IN THE SPRINGTIME WE’LL GO DANCING
Thursday 18 March – Saturday 3 April
Andrew Salgado returns to BEERS with an online exhibit of 12 works on paper, entitled In the Springtime We’ll Go Dancing. The title contains only a slight nod to the worldwide pandemic, but instead chooses to emphasize ideas of hope and optimism. The works contain similar effusiveness: strong colours, loud patterns, and images of mostly nude youth in leisure and reverie. There is a sense of longing, too, for histories both real and imagined. Greatly inspired by the artist’s affinity for literature, the works seem to weave through a dreamlike and seductive narrative. In many ways, the works can be viewed as a continuation of his sell-out exhibition at the gallery last fall, Strange Weather, and we at BEERS are very excited to present these works to you in an exclusively online format from 18th March.
